Two Vietnamese Professors Inducted into Prestigious TWAS
The 17th TWAS General Conference in Rio de Janeiro, themed 'Building a Sustainable Future', concluded with significant recognitions. Two Vietnamese professors were welcomed as new fellows of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS).
Professor Dr. Nguyễn Thế Hoàng and Professor Dr. Nguyễn Thị Thanh Mai received their certificates from TWAS President Professor Quarraisha Abdool Karim during the conference's award ceremony. Professor Mai, with over 80 international publications and innovative treatments for gastrointestinal cancers and arthritis, joins TWAS. Professor Hoàng, boasting over 100 research papers and numerous awards, becomes a full member effective January 1, 2025.
TWAS, founded in 1983 under UNESCO, now comprises 1,444 distinguished scientists from over 100 countries. Vietnam's new fellows bring the total to two. The conference featured scientific sessions, high-level discussions, and the induction of these esteemed academics.
The Rio conference saw the induction of two Vietnamese professors into TWAS, recognizing their significant contributions to science. Professor Mai and Professor Hoàng join an elite global community, further enriching TWAS's diversity and expertise.
