Unexpected Easter Twist Leads to a Joyful Conclusion
Juliana, a 12-year-old girl living with Angelman Syndrome, recently celebrated Easter in a unique way. Despite her condition requiring the use of an augmentative and alternative communication device for communication and the need for support and assistance with daily needs, she managed to participate in the festivities with enthusiasm.
On Easter morning, Juliana experienced some digestive issues, causing an unplanned event. However, this did not deter the family from attending the church service. Recognising the religious and community importance of the event, they made an extra effort to handle the situation. The family divided and conquered, ensuring that Juliana could still be a part of the celebration.
Juliana walked the 10-minute walk to the outdoor church service fairly cheerfully. Once there, she was seated with her family for at least an hour, exhibiting excitement and participating in the music and clapping during the service. The family did not miss the Easter egg hunt at church, and Juliana even managed to attend the photo booth, where her father captured a special moment.
The family's Easter was eventful and uneventful at the same time. Due to Juliana's condition, they are limiting her interactions with a lot of people and crowds indoors. As a result, they only attend large events when they are held outdoors. Despite this, they celebrated a simple Easter Sunday celebration that included church, an Easter egg hunt, and a family dinner.
Juliana's health challenges did not stop her from getting her COVID-19 vaccine shot in January. Her courage and resilience serve as an inspiration to all who know her. This Easter, Juliana once again demonstrated her spirit by participating in the church service, despite the initial diarrhea incident.
The family's determination to include Juliana in the Easter celebrations, despite the challenges, is a testament to their love and dedication. They continue to ensure that Juliana feels included and valued, making every effort to create memorable experiences for her.
