New CUF Barreiro Clinic Opens in Portugal, Expanding Healthcare Services
The CUF Barreiro Clinic, a significant addition to the CUF's healthcare network, has recently opened its doors in Quinta da Lomba, Portugal. This development comes as CUF marks its 80th anniversary and underscores the organisation's commitment to the health and well-being of families in the region.
The new clinic, located on Rua de São Tomé e Príncipe, covers an area of over 1,500 square metres and features 26 offices for consultations, exams, and treatments. It boasts state-of-the-art equipment for MRIs, mammograms, ultrasounds, and X-rays, as well as respiratory function tests, enhancing its diagnostic capabilities.
The CUF Barreiro Clinic offers a wide range of services in over 30 medical and surgical specialties. These include General and Family Medicine, Cardiology, Obstetrics-Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, and Otorhinolaryngology (ENT). The clinic also provides specialized exams such as Cardiology, Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology, and Gynecological and Obstetric Ultrasounds.
To cater to the primary healthcare needs of the community, the clinic has a nearby CUF Health Centre offering services such as General and Family Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Psychology, and Nutrition.
The clinic employs a team of approximately 130 healthcare professionals, maintaining close collaboration with the CUF Tejo Hospital and CUF Almada Clinic to provide comprehensive care to over 170,000 residents in the area. It operates with extended hours throughout the week, including holidays, ensuring high accessibility for patients.
Rui Diniz, President of the CUF Executive Committee, stated, "The change of facilities and increased care reflect CUF's commitment to the region's health needs for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and lifelong monitoring."
Looking ahead, CUF plans to further consolidate healthcare services in the region with the opening of the CUF Barreiro Hospital in 2028, which will expand access to differentiated and comprehensive care on the south bank of the Tagus River. The CUF Barreiro Clinic will work closely with the CUF Tejo Hospital and CUF Almada Clinic to complement the healthcare provided.
This expansion and the opening of the CUF Health Centre reinforce CUF's proximity to families in the region, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to improving the health and well-being of the community.
