Urgent Workshop Successfully Held at Siloam: Intensive Emergency Response Training

In an unprecedented event, Pforzheim, Germany, played host to an Emergency Intensive Care Workshop on June 12, 2024, at the Siloah parking garage. The workshop, attended by 160 participants, aimed to strengthen interagency collaboration between police, rescue services, and hospital intensive care teams, among other objectives.

Dr. Manfred Krammer, head of cardiology, and Michael Eilzer, emergency paramedic with the DRK, emphasized the importance of the exchange between these vital services during the intensive workshop. The event was a combination of theory and practice, with a focus on emergency intensive care.

The Siloah parking garage, although still under construction, served as an ideal venue for the training. Instructors from the rescue service conducted the workshop, offering a variety of theoretical and practical training options. The training included demonstrations, lectures, and practical sessions, covering over 20 topics.

Experts from the DRK district association explained structured patient disposal in mass casualties and other dangerous situations during the training. The Helios Clinic presented its geriatric focus with an aging suit that participants could try on to experience the physical limitations that old age can bring.

One of the highlights of the workshop was a hostage situation simulation conducted in the first basement of the parking garage. The police forces secured the unknown terrain and injured persons before handing them over to the rescue service forces. The Black Forest Mountain Rescue and the Enz District Heights Rescue demonstrated a rope-supported rescue or evacuation from a height using the construction crane at the workshop.

The topics covered in the workshop were diverse, including "Care and Reanimation of Newborns", "Emergency Sonography", and more. Participants had opportunities to refresh, deepen, and exchange their knowledge on these topics. Experts from the Siloah St. Trudpert Clinic spoke about topics such as intubation, emergency caesarean section, chest drainage, and birth training during the workshop.

Dr. Krammer plans to make the emergency intensive care workshop a major event for next year, aiming for increased interactivity with all offers and topics. He encourages interested parties to check local government, police, or medical institutions in Pforzheim for official announcements or detailed reports on this specific workshop.

Such workshops typically focus on enhancing interdisciplinary cooperation among emergency responders, including police, fire/rescue services, and medical personnel. The goal is to improve communication, coordination, and efficiency during emergency and intensive care situations, saving lives and managing crises effectively.

In the context of the workshop, Dr. Krammer and Michael Eilzer underlined the necessity of collaboration between crucial services, especially in health and wellness, medical-conditions, and science, in emergencies and intensive care scenarios. During the event, experts discussed and demonstrated various topics such as "Emergency Sonography" and "Birth Training," emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation to save lives effectively.
