Withings Launches U-Scan: A Smart Toilet Analyzer for Hydration, Nutrition, and Recovery
Withings has introduced U-Scan, a novel device that attaches to toilets and analyzes urine samples to provide insights into hydration, nutrition, and recovery. The device is available in two models, Nutrio and Calci, and offers a premium coaching experience through its accompanying app, available on the app store.
U-Scan uses thermal sensors to detect urine and miniaturized biochemical sensors in interchangeable cartridges to analyze samples. The device transmits results to the Withings app, which offers actionable recommendations through its Withings+ premium coaching experience. Users can choose between two plans: the Proactive Plan at $379.95 for 2-4 analyses per week, or the Intensive Plan at $449.96 for 5-7 analyses per week. Replacement cartridges cost $99.95 or $179.96, depending on the plan level, and each plan covers roughly three months of testing.
The app also offers a free nutrition consultation with a registered dietitian through a partnership with Fay Nutrition, and an AI-powered health assistant for contextualizing biomarker trends. Withings has launched U-Scan directly on its own website in Europe and the U.S., with both U-Scan Nutrio and U-Scan Calci models available for purchase.
