Woman takes the wheel after taxi driver falls asleep mid-trip

A Russian woman took control of her taxi after the driver, a man, fell asleep mid-journey. She drove nearly 200 kilometres herself to reach her destination safely. The incident happened during a late-night trip from Moscow's Vnukovo Airport to Ivanovo. The woman and her sister had hired the taxi for the 300-kilometre ride. Partway through, the driver became drowsy and lost consciousness at the wheel. With no time to waste, she quickly moved into the driver's seat and took over. She handled the remaining two-thirds of the trip alone. Despite the unexpected challenge, both passengers arrived in Ivanovo without further issues. Official records show no reported cases of Russian taxi drivers being penalised for fatigue-related incidents in 2023 or 2024. The woman's quick thinking ensured a safe end to the journey. The incident highlights the risks of driver fatigue on long trips. No formal action has been taken against the taxi driver involved.
