World Horse Welfare Conference 2025 redefines care through equine perspective

The World Horse Welfare Conference 2025 took place on November 21 under the theme 'Through the Horse’s Eyes'. Experts gathered to discuss how horses perceive human-created environments and how modern equestrian practices can better align with their natural needs. The event brought together Olympic riders, researchers, and welfare specialists to shape the future of horse care.

Roly Owers, Chief Executive of World Horse Welfare, highlighted that recent scientific findings have reshaped ideas about what makes a good life for horses. He stressed the need to move beyond outdated assumptions and focus on evidence-based welfare.

The event concluded with a call to integrate scientific research into everyday equestrian practices. By prioritising the horse’s viewpoint, the industry can create conditions that reduce stress and enhance welfare. The discussions set a foundation for future improvements in how horses are housed, trained, and cared for.
