Year-end Meetings at Support Groups Conclude
Getting Together in Tough Times:
It's been quite the rollercoaster year for our Support Groups, but luckily, many of us still managed to gather and celebrate the end of 2020, despite the madness. Take the Parkinson's NSW Pittwater/Warringah Support Group, for instance, who held their initial reunion since February on the 24th of last November.
They set up camp at Jamieson Park, close to the picturesque Narrabeen lagoon, packing their chairs and goodies. The day turned out to be simply sublime, a perfect blend of catching up with old friends and enjoying some quality leisure time.
And let's not forget about the unexpected guests—a brushturkey, a few ducks, and their adorable ducklings dropped by to join the festivities! All in all, it was an easy, enjoyable outing, and we're definitely planning to do it all again soon.
Now, if you're wondering about the exact meetings schedule and location for this year, it's a bit tricky. While there isn't a wealth of up-to-date information available, we do know that this group supports seniors (55 years old and above) living with Parkinson's, as well as their caregivers, relatives, and those who have experienced loss due to Parkinson's.
Primarily operating in the Pittwater/Warringah regions of Sydney, the group can be found in local news outlets like Pittwater Online News. However, the exact frequency of meetings and precise locations for 2021 haven't been made public yet.
If you're interested in finding out more about the 2021 gatherings, reaching out directly to Parkinson’s NSW or Pittwater Online News would be your best bet. They'll likely have the details you're looking for.
Remember, even in challenging times, it's important to keep that sense of community alive and well!
- Together with other support groups, we can use technology to organize virtual mental-health meetings, promoting health-and-wellness and offering a platform for sharing experiences during the unpredictable weather.
- As we await the return of in-person gatherings, staying informed about scientific advancements in Parkinson's disease can help us better comprehend and manage its impact on our mental health.
