Astana's new youth movement puts students in charge of drug prevention

Astana is launching a new youth movement as part of the Esirtkisiz Elorda anti-drug project. The initiative aims to encourage healthy lifestyles and combat drug addiction among university students. Organisers say the project will rely on students themselves to lead prevention efforts. The Esirtkisiz Elorda project will operate on a 'peer-to-peer education' model. Students from Astana’s universities will join the movement, elect a chairperson, and take charge of organising prevention events for their peers. These activities will include seminars, workshops, and discussions with specialists.

The goal is to create a sustainable platform that strengthens drug prevention within the student community. By training participants in leadership and awareness, the project hopes to build an active network focused on responsible decision-making. Over time, the youth movement plans to foster a culture of mindfulness and healthy living among young people. The initiative will not only raise awareness but also empower students to take ownership of prevention efforts. Through regular training and collaborative events, participants will develop skills to support their peers in making informed choices.

The Esirtkisiz Elorda project will train students to lead drug prevention activities across Astana’s universities. The movement expects to establish a lasting framework for peer-led education and healthy lifestyle promotion. Organisers believe this approach will strengthen prevention efforts within the student population for years to come.
