Euskirchen (ots)
On Tuesday, March 24, at around 6:15 a.m., a traffic accident involving four vehicles occurred on Jülicher Ring in Euskirchen. According to initial findings, a 23-year-old local driver veered off the road to the right in his car and first collided with a parked vehicle. The force of the impact pushed the struck car into another parked vehicle in front of it, which then hit a fourth car. All four vehicles sustained damage. The first two cars involved were so severely damaged that they were no longer drivable and had to be towed away.
During the accident investigation, firefighters were also called to the scene after operating fluids began leaking from the at-fault vehicle. The 23-year-old driver stated on-site that he had just finished a night shift and was extremely fatigued. He admitted to falling asleep at the wheel, likely experiencing a microsleep. Authorities filed a report for endangering road traffic due to physical or mental impairment.
