Free Thuringia events offer vital support for family caregivers in June 2026
AOK PLUS is organising two free events in Bad Salzungen as part of Thuringia’s Family Caregivers Week. The sessions aim to support those looking after relatives at home. Both will take place at the AOK PLUS branch on different dates in early June 2026. The first event, a Care Café, runs on June 2, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. It offers practical advice, useful information, and a space for caregivers to meet and exchange experiences. The gathering highlights the essential role family members play in enabling home-based care.
On June 4, 2026, also from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, a second session will focus on legal preparation. Titled *Planning Ahead—the Right Way: How a Power of Attorney Provides Security*, it will explain advance directives and powers of attorney. Both events come as AOK PLUS reports 109,299 insured individuals in Thuringia needing care by the end of 2025, with 95,631 receiving support at home. Ilona Wojnowski, an AOK PLUS board member, has stressed the importance of recognising caregivers’ efforts. She noted that their dedication is vital but often overlooked, urging attention to their own well-being.
The two events provide free resources for caregivers during Thuringia’s dedicated week. They address both practical daily challenges and long-term legal planning. Registration details are available through the local AOK PLUS branch in Bad Salzungen.
