"You look great for your age" might seem like a compliment at first, but it covers up structural age discrimination and a limited perspective of women. The obsession with so-called perfect breasts (boobs) is still prevalent, as demonstrated by the increasing popularity of breast augmentation among young women, especially in Hollywood.

Iris Berben, a respected actress, voiced her disappointment in an interview with Stern, stating, "What did our generation actually go out onto the streets for? What were we demanding? A self-determined image of women, in our own responsibility." And yet, the current situation seems far from that. Women are being ruled by a herd mentality in which individuality is often punished, leaving individuals to conform, no matter the cost—money, health, or self-worth.

Yes, we know that many women do it for themselves, not for men. But the pursuit of perfection has taken a new form: "chin down, padded shoulders, sucked-in belly, and enlarged breasts." Some parts of the body are now considered acceptable to expand, while others are not. For example, accepted body parts include buttocks, breasts, and lips, while belly, thighs, or other body parts are up for debate.

The Pursuit of Perfection vs. Real Growth

Berben rightly argues that the focus has shifted to perfectionism and a superficial obsession with appearance. However, real growth is rarely associated with perfection. Social media perpetuates this idea, offering a perfected version of life that pressures women to live up to an unattainable standard. Women who don't fit a specific beauty ideal are often viewed as unattractive and are subjected to harsh words like "old," "fat," or "poor."

Berben continually encourages focusing on more than just the physical, emphasizing the importance of education and fostering the brain. Despite her positive outlook on the new generation, reality tells a different story. Berben observes two trends in her field, film: those who are dedicated to their performance and those who only care about presentation.

The Perfection of Breasts

For the latter group, it's now primarily about attaining the "perfect" breasts through breast augmentation. Kylie Jenner, a celebrity known for her cosmetics line, recently revealed the details of her breast augmentation, including the size, type of implant, and the surgeon who performed the procedure. This revelation was celebrated as a groundbreaking achievement, despite the grotesque implications it sends to young women.

Despite her young age, wealth, and success, the question remains: Why would a young woman, who is already celebrated and adored for her perceived perfection, opt for such a drastic change?

The Quest for Perfection - Is It Worth It?

Perfect breasts? What constitutes perfect breasts? Are perfect breasts truly important? Why not focus on a perfect brain instead? No one is born with a perfect brain, not even the most brilliant minds like Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein, or Marie Curie. So why the emphasis on perfect breasts? Perfect butts? Perfect jawlines?

Kylie Jenner is 27, a successful entrepreneur, model, and half-sister of Kim Kardashian. She's celebrated for her beauty and successful business, and her relationship with Timothée Chalamet has placed them as the "IT" couple in Hollywood. But criticism abounds, with conniving voices questioning their relationship. Despite this, Jenner remains undeterred, seemingly content with her appearance.

One fan on TikTok voiced her admiration for Jenner's breasts, deeming them the "most perfect 'boob job' ever." To which Jenner responded, confirming that she had undergone breast augmentation at age 19. Furthermore, Jenner indicated that depending on one's timeline, a complete makeover might be needed every few years.

The Playground of Failure

Despite her confidence and success, Berben's observations suggest that the focus on perfection in today's image of women angers her. She initially thought laughter would suffice, but the current state leaves her questioning the goals of her generation. In today's society, there is little respect or understanding for the development process, which inevitably involves failure. However, failure is not part of the picture for today's young people. Berben is glad to have had the opportunity to navigate the "playground of failure" as it plays a crucial role in self-discovery and growth.

Who Is Kylie Jenner?

Kylie Jenner's breast augmentation is just another instance of the standard everyone seems to be following in Hollywood. A colleague in the "World" magazine claims that Jenner's transformation was nothing special, with plastic surgeon Kelly Killien confirming that Jenner had a relatively large implant inserted, resulting in a "Jessica Rabbit look." Actresses who once said they valued intelligence over Looks must be rolling their eyes at such developments.

So, Who Is Kylie Jenner?

Mediocre at Best: That's What a Colleague in the "World" Magazine Claims About Kylie Jenner's breast augmentation. According to Plastic Surgeon Kelly Killien, Kylie "Had a Relatively Large Implant, Which Would Be About Three Full Cup Sizes Larger on an Average Woman" Inserted. In the End, a Kind of "Jessica Rabbit Look" Comes Out. Do These Statements Reflect the Reality, or Are They Just Hate Speech?

Often, It's Not About the Butt With Kylie. It's About the Boobs, the Job That Comes with It, and Let's Just Say: The Doctor Who Did It Won't Be Complaining About Lack of Demand for the "Kylie Boobs."

Iris Berben, Who Certainly Does a Lot for Her Beauty and Even Does Advertising for a Cosmetics Giant, Remains Optimistic Nonetheless, Even at Almost 75: "We Have a Very Strong Young Generation, (...) Fantastic Young Women, (...) Who Are Excellent Directors or Great Actresses and Producers. Even When I Look at the Other Brand Ambassadors, My Colleagues, at L'Oréal Paris. Strong Women Who Stand Up for Others, True to the Motto: 'I Am Worth It.' I Tell Myself: We're on the Right Track. There's This Generation That Gives Me Hope."

And With These Hopeful Words, I Wish You a Wonderful Sunday. Carpe diem.

  1. I'm not going to be able to do this: challenge the limitation of the beauty ideal in the film industry as emphasized by Iris Berben's lamentation about the lack of focus on performance over presentation.
  2. In the realm of health-and-wellness and lifestyle, the pursuit of perfection through breast augmentation, such as by Kylie Jenner, indicates an obsession with physical appearance that might compromise one's health and self-worth.
  3. In response to the growing focus on fashion-and-beauty trends like breast augmentation, it's essential to foster science-backed, informed discussions about women's health, particularly women's health issues like womens-health, to promote a more balanced and holistic understanding of beauty.
