Man found dead in Dombivli home days after friend's custodial death

A 31-year-old man was found dead in his home in Dombivli West after neighbours reported a foul smell. Lokesh Suryakant Nikam, who lived alone, had worked at a local printing press. His body was discovered hanging inside the house, with police suspecting suicide nearly four days earlier. Lokesh’s parents grew worried when he stopped answering phone calls. Neighbours later noticed a strong, unpleasant odour coming from his residence and alerted the authorities. Upon entering the home, police found his body and immediately launched an investigation.

A post-mortem examination was carried out to determine the cause of death. Investigators are now looking into the circumstances surrounding his suicide. Friends and family revealed that Lokesh had been deeply affected by the recent death of his close friend, Rishikesh. Rishikesh had died in custody after complaining of chest pain. His relatives claimed he did not receive timely medical attention. The loss reportedly weighed heavily on Lokesh in the days leading up to his death.

Police continue to probe the case, focusing on Lokesh’s state of mind before his death. The investigation will examine whether his friend’s death played a role in his decision. Authorities have not yet released further details on the findings.
