Start Your New Year's Eve Shopping Early to Avoid Stress and Crowds

Planning for New Year’s Eve celebrations should start early this year, according to dietitian and nutrigeneticist Andrei Zolotarev. With the pandemic still affecting shopping routines, he recommends buying non-perishable items a month ahead to avoid crowds and manage costs. Zolotarev suggests purchasing long-lasting foods like caviar, olives, canned peas, and corn in early December. These preserves stay fresh for weeks, reducing last-minute stress. Alcoholic drinks, sweets, chocolates, and hard cheeses can also be bought well in advance.

For fresher items, timing matters. Salted red or white fish should be bought no more than two weeks before the celebration to maintain quality. Shoppers are also reminded to follow safety measures—wearing masks, keeping distance, and spending as little time as possible in stores. By planning ahead, families can steer clear of long queues and stick to their budgets during the busy holiday season.

Early preparation helps avoid the rush while keeping expenses under control. Following these guidelines ensures a smoother shopping experience and a well-stocked table for the festivities. Safety precautions remain key as celebrations approach.
