Allegheny Health Network's Behavioral Health Institute Unveils Bright New Home

Allegheny Health Network’s Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Institute has relocated to a new, modern space on Pittsburgh’s North Side. The move marks a major upgrade from the old facility, which suffered from poor conditions and outdated infrastructure. A ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday officially celebrated the transition. The institute has shifted from Four Allegheny Center to the third floor of the Federal North building. Patients will begin receiving care in the new space from May 11. The timing aligns with Mental Health Awareness Month, observed each May.

The old facility had long-standing issues, including unreliable heating and air conditioning. Staff and patients also dealt with a dark, deteriorating environment. The new location, by contrast, features warm colours, welcoming artwork, and improved amenities. A highlight of the upgrade is an enhanced Austin’s Playroom for children, funded by the Mario Lemieux Foundation. The new space also sits next to other health departments, making it easier for teams to work together. Dr. Anthony Mannarino, chair of the institute, stated that the improved setting will greatly benefit patient care.

The relocation brings better facilities and a more supportive environment for mental health services. With upgraded spaces and closer ties to other medical teams, the institute aims to provide more integrated care. The official opening for patients begins on May 11.
