Phil Collins shares health update but skips Hall of Fame induction

Phil Collins has faced nearly two decades of serious health struggles. The legendary musician, now sober for two years, recently shared that his condition has improved. Yet, he remains unable to attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony next month.

Collins’ health problems began in 2007 with a spinal injury that led to nerve damage. A back operation later caused 'drop foot', limiting his mobility. Over the years, he also underwent five knee surgeries and battled kidney issues linked to past drinking.

After Genesis’ final tour in 2022, he officially retired from performing due to chronic pain and weakness. Months in hospital followed, leaving him uncertain about his future. But now, the 72-year-old reports feeling healthier than he has in years.

Despite his recovery, Collins will miss the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction on 14 November 2023. He was named among the 2026 class of inductees, yet his body still isn’t strong enough for public appearances. Meanwhile, he’s been working on new song ideas, hinting at a possible return to music.

Collins’ long battle with health issues has eased, though he remains cautious about performing. His recent sobriety and improved strength suggest a potential comeback. For now, fans will have to wait to see him live again.
