Yakutsk Launches Cutting-Edge Rehab for Veterans with Exoskeleton Tech
A new high-tech rehabilitation program for veterans of the Special Military Operation has opened at the Medical Rehabilitation Center of Republican Clinical Hospital No. 3 in Yakutsk. The initiative aims to provide advanced recovery support for those needing long-term care after initial medical treatment. Officials and health experts attended the launch to mark the start of this specialised service. The program focuses on restoring mobility, strength, and daily functioning through modern medical technologies. A key feature is an exoskeleton—the only one of its kind in the republic—designed to help patients with severe trauma or neurological damage relearn walking, balance, and muscle control. The device supports weight shifting and joint engagement, offering precise assistance tailored to individual needs.
Psychological support also forms a core part of the rehabilitation process. Each participant receives a customised plan, reflecting their unique injury history and recovery requirements. The centre stresses that technology works best when combined with a multidisciplinary team approach. The launch event included Dmitry Sergin, First Deputy Minister of Health of Yakutia, along with Alexey Alexandrov, head of the regional branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland State Fund, and other officials. Their presence highlighted the growing importance of structured rehabilitation for veterans, marking a shift toward more systematic and specialised care.
The new program signals a step forward in rehabilitation for Special Military Operation participants. By integrating advanced tools like the exoskeleton with tailored therapy, the centre aims to improve long-term recovery outcomes. The initiative also underscores the role of coordinated medical and psychological support in helping veterans regain independence.
