Caritas Fürth opens first Südstadt care hub for elderly residents
Caritas Fürth’s home nursing service has opened a new location at 108 Karolinenstraße. This marks the first local outreach centre for outpatient care in Fürth’s Südstadt district. The move aims to improve access for both caregivers and elderly residents in the area. The new premises on Karolinenstraße provide better parking and shorter travel times for the care team. Led by Yao Qi and Olga Touretskaja, staff will now work in bright, modern, and barrier-free facilities. The building is also close to public transport, making visits easier for older clients.
Südstadt, with around 26,000 residents—many of them elderly or living alone—previously had no nearby care service. Caritas invested about €30,000 to adapt the space, including kitchen appliances donated by AEG/Electrolux. The relocation was funded in part by the newly established Hans-Fäßler-Caritas-Fürth Foundation. Hans Fäßler, whose 80th birthday inspired the foundation, personally contributed €3,000 toward the project. This expansion adds to Caritas’ existing presence in Südstadt, joining the Coordinated Neighborhood Network and the 'Zeppelin12' secondhand clothing store.
The new care station will serve as a central hub for outpatient support in Südstadt. With improved facilities and easier access, both caregivers and residents stand to benefit. The project also strengthens Caritas’ local network in the district.
