There are steps with railings leading up to a podium with a microphone and stand, as well as boards with stands. In the back there are pillars and a wall with a door, and a pot with a plant. Charity walk in Calahonda unites community for prostate cancer and mental health

A charity walk called Don’t Be a Man – Step Up & Get a Check Up will take place on Sunday, May 17. The event aims to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer testing, mental health support, and life-saving equipment. Participants will gather at Dempsey’s Irish Bar in Dona Lola Calahonda for the 9km route.

The walk begins at 10am from Dempsey’s Irish Bar. From there, participants will follow the coast to Biddy Mulligan’s La Cala for a refreshment break. The route then continues to Garden Bar before finishing back at Dempsey’s.

Entry costs €10, which includes a commemorative T-shirt and lunch. After the walk, live entertainment will be provided by Crissie and Monkey Tennis. Funds raised will go towards free PSA prostate cancer testing, the purchase of a defibrillator, and support for *Walk & Talk Somer Wood*, a local mental health initiative. Several businesses are backing the event, including Bed Warehouse Spain S.L, Bronzed Tanning Studio Riviera, Biddy Mulligan’s La Cala, Dempsey’s Irish Bar, and Garden Bar Rocas del Mar. Prostate cancer remains one of the most common cancers among men globally. Early detection through testing can significantly improve survival rates.

The event combines fitness, community support, and vital fundraising. All proceeds will directly fund prostate cancer screening, mental health services, and emergency medical equipment. Organisers encourage men and supporters to join the walk and help save lives.
