How the Right Vitamins Can Transform Your Hair Health Over Time

Hair health depends on more than just shampoo—it’s closely linked to diet and vitamins. According to dermatologist Dr. Yelena Yutsmyuts, certain nutrients can strengthen hair, prevent grey strands, and even reduce loss. But timing and balance play a key role in seeing results. Dr. Yutsmyuts, a trichologist at Moscow’s Central Clinical Hospital of Russian Railways Medicine, highlights the importance of specific vitamins. Vitamin C, when paired with silicon, boosts collagen production and helps delay greying. Meanwhile, omega-3 supplements, rich in vitamin E, nourish follicles and improve overall hair condition.

Too much vitamin A, however, can backfire. Excess intake has been linked to hair loss, making moderation essential. Another critical factor is the body’s acid-alkaline balance—when disrupted, it weakens hair growth. Drinking fresh vegetable juices can help restore this balance and stimulate follicles.

Patience is also necessary. Hair’s active growth phase lasts about 90 days, so visible improvements from supplements take at least three months to appear. The right vitamins and diet can make a noticeable difference in hair strength and colour. But changes won’t happen overnight—consistent intake and a balanced approach are required. Those considering supplements should monitor their vitamin A levels and allow time for natural growth cycles to show effects.
