Kazakhstan unveils diet-friendly cereal to combat obesity and diabetes
Kazakhstan is set to launch a new diet-friendly breakfast cereal developed by local researchers. The product, made from whole grains, aims to tackle obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Production technology is now complete, with plans to scale up before a 2027 commercial release. Scientists at the Kazakh Research Institute of Processing and Food Industry have created a new method for producing dry breakfast cereals. The technology keeps the grain’s natural structure intact, boosting fibre, B vitamins and minerals while cutting calories.
The cereal is designed as a preventive food, helping regulate carbohydrate metabolism and aid digestion. Officials also expect it to support weight management and improve overall dietary quality.
Beyond health benefits, the project will expand Kazakhstan’s functional food market. It aims to reduce reliance on imported cereals and increase high-value processing of domestic grain. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to strengthen the country’s food independence. The new cereal will enter production ahead of its 2027 launch. Its development marks a step toward healthier dietary options in Kazakhstan. The project also supports local agriculture by using homegrown grain and reducing import dependency.
