Costco recalls Renpure shampoo over microbial contamination risks

A shampoo and conditioner set sold at Costco Wholesale is being recalled over safety concerns. The affected product, Renpure Tea Tree and Rosemary Scalp Rebalancing, may contain elevated microbial levels. Customers in Ontario and Quebec who purchased it between May 10 and May 12 are urged to stop using it immediately.

The recall covers only specific batches of the shampoo and conditioner combo. Affected bottles carry lot codes 2603C065 or 2604C066, printed at the bottom. These codes identify the products at risk of contamination.

The manufacturer warns that higher-than-normal microbial levels could lead to mild skin irritation or sensitivity. However, no injuries or adverse reactions have been reported so far. Costco is offering a full refund to anyone who returns the affected items. Customers are advised to check their bottles and bring them back to the store if they match the recalled lot numbers.

The recall remains limited to two provinces and a short sales window. Shoppers who bought the product outside Ontario or Quebec, or before May 10, are not affected. For a refund, customers must return the shampoo and conditioner to their nearest Costco location.
